| Information for Young People |
|
It has been suggested by your Social Worker or the Children's
Panel that you should come to the project. You will probably have a lot of
questions about what the project does, who comes to the project etc. This
leaflet will give you information which we hope will be helpful. When the
project worker visits you with your Social Worker they will be able to answer
any questions you have. |
| Who is the project for? |
|
Young people:
  |
aged 15-18 years |
  |
who live in Glasgow |
  |

who may be at risk of going
into care/secure accommodation or appearing before the Court |
|
| Who set up the project and why? |
|
NCH Action for Children and Apex Scotland set up the project to
work with young people to assist them to reduce their offending, to develop
their personal confidence and strengths, and to plan for the future. |
| Where is the project? |
|
We are based in Gordon Street in the City Centre. If you come to
the project, transport to and from the project will be arranged for you.
|
| What happens if youy are referred to the
project? |

arrange to meet you with your Social Worker, to talk with you about the
project |

3 Week Assessment: During the three weeks,
the project worker will meet with you regularly, to work out what would be the
most important areas to focus on during your contact with the project. The
areas we would discuss with you during your appointments would include for
example:
- details about your offending behaviour
- how offending has affected your behaviour/your
family's life etc.
|
  |
Contact and work with the project: After the
assessment period, you would have contact with the project each week, either
meeting individually with your project worker and/or attending a group.
Listed below and over are some of the areas we would
work on with young people:
- Involvement in offending behaviour.
- Consequences of offending.
- Alcohol and Drug use.
- Developing individual confidence and strengths.
- On offer are a number of modules designed to increase
your chances of getting a job, a training or college position
-
Communication skills - IT Familiarity - Employability Skills (CV,
application forms, interviews) - Value of a job / Barriers to
employment

|
| Contact with your Social Worker |
|
While you are attending the project we will have regular contact
with your Social Worker regarding your attendance and progress at the project.
The Project will also be required to provide reports for the Children's Panel
System and the Social Work Department. You will have the right to see these
reports and your project worker will discuss these reports with you. |
